Do you have a spot in your house that needs some TLC? This is a family’s hand me down closet that needed sorting, binning, and labeling. Easy! Except not so easy when you are a mom taking care of 3 kids! I was happy to help get this closet back in order so mom has one less thing to worry about. Also, folding tiny baby clothes is a delight. 😍

Unpopular opinion about organization as a gift for the holidays!

Do you want your pantry to be a beautiful extension of your kitchen and living area? It can be done with minimal product and some creativity. The center section of this pantry is styled with glass containers, acrylic containers, and baskets but the sides (hidden) are more functional and not styled. Now the client can keep the barn door open even when guests are mingling in the kitchen! Swipe to see the before.

I just finished a basement project in Rowley. This basement needed to store baby gear, baby clothes, and holiday decor but the organization had taken a back seat to…life! Not to worry, I was able to get things sorted, purged, and organized in a few sessions. Now this family is ready to welcome baby #2 with a clear space and a clear mind. Kids are adults in training and they need to be taught how to organize their space and keep it that way. Here are the top 3 systems I’d suggest:

1. For clothing, let kids quickly toss clean laundry into drawers by category without folding. For this to work, you need to be absolutely ruthless about getting rid of anything that they are not wearing during this season. Don’t have a dresser? No worries. You can buy wire drawer units and put them inside a closet.

2. Establish a treasure box, ideally a container that slides under the bed. Use the treasure box for anything kids want to save (playground rocks!). The treasure box teaches kids the container concept: when it’s full, they need to reevaluate their collection because the box can’t get any bigger!

3. Give them a trash can and a laundry bin. You’d be surprised how effective the most basic systems can be!

A cute 5 year old got a closet makeover today! I assembled this drawer unit Mom had already selected and got to work sorting, hanging, and labeling. I’m a big believer in using off the shelf (or off the Amazon) products for kids closets because they grow and change so quickly. Wait until they are much older to invest in a closet system.
